Tough, Sexy and Cheeky are words I would use to describe the store known as Sn@tch.....
I walked into the store back in my freebie days, when Ivey Deschanel was putting out weekly group gifts and hunts around her store. She is tireless in her creative output, involvement in shows (like Black Swan) sense of humour and marketing savvy. I ran over last weekend as she was having a sale (on until tomorrow-50% off) and picked up a few outfits. She is also running a photo contest right now. And for those so inclined she has a Lucky Chair, Riot Vendor and boxes of free stuff for Newbies!

Week 25 - Dutch Touch/Tattoos/Lolli
Stores in SL come and go.... they re-make their brand, they rejuvenate themselves, redesign or die a slow death. The most successful designers are constantly updating their lines, creating new products and developing their skills. Dutch Touch was one of the stores I discovered a few months into joining SL. I loved their street casual look and enjoyed the overall design of the store. I even liked the well made vendors. I haven't been back for a while because though I loved the store I had bought everything that interested me. When I noticed that they had new skins released, I thought it would be a good idea to return for a demo. Well, I'm glad that I did because the store has been re-designed and there is a lot of new product. There are new Skins, Dresses, Pants and Outfits. As well, the older designs are still available in the outlet section.
I'm not sure I would have been able to try this with the older designs but I took three outfits and made three completely different looks.

Week 241/2 - Those Discordant Wales...
Shopping in SL sometimes gets mundane because one tends to shop in much the same places after a while. Of course I scan the feeds for new products as well as keep up with the groups and chatter. Because RL has been so demanding lately of my time and attention I have only been keeping only one eye open. I remembered seeing a few pairs of baggy pants advertised but completely forgot where I had seen them. After getting some suggestions I went shopping...
I didn't find the pants I had seen but found a couple of really cool stores. Discord is a store I have been in before. I bought an AO there but never stayed to check out the other products.
Discord is similar in many ways to Bare Rose. It is large and can be laggy. The clothes and other products are very reasonably priced. Clothes range from Fantasy to Funky to Japanese . And there are some wonderful prim hairs again at really good prices. I bought several Hairstyles and 2 outfits and a pretty funky Bunny which is colourchange at 50L. I will be returning later to check out more clothes and boots! The boots are from Lazy places and support the Victoria Relief Fund. The skin was from Fleur as part of the Vain Kiss hunt. (I am rediscovering Fleur as Tete a Pied was the first store I walked into in SL as a noob and went "I want...") The makeups for this skin are wonderful for photography. The Pictures were shot at Wales Springs SIM.

Week 24 - Broken Hearts and Lovers Quarrels
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow
(T.S. Eliot, The Hollow Men)
I don't recall before this year ever hearing the words "Anti-Valentine". But maybe it's the state of the world today or my state of mind that makes me think of lost loves and broken hearts. For someone who is Happily Single in SL and Happily Married in RL, still I know that fairytales don't often come true. We have to hang on to what's good in our lives because often we can't control the bad.
When You are Old by W.B. Yeats
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

Week Whatever - Pretty in Pink!
Cute and Pink in SL isn't usually my thing but thinking about Valentines Day, Spring (if it ever comes!) and Pink, reminded me of the Movie "Pretty in Pink" and Molly Ringwald, from the 80's with her cute but Quirky style...Candy Floss....I need to go brush my teeth now!
Shot on Location at Kowloon, Mudshake and Monaca Japan.
When Achariya posted a blogger challenge in rememberance of John Hughes passing, it put me in mind of this post from February. My daughter and I had just watched the movie (I've seen it so many times) and had fun discussing the fashion and my memories of the eighties. She had also to listen to my experience of 16 candles and how "My" parents forgot my 16th birthday! Long live John Hughes!! (at least in film..)

sUmi is available @ Tuli, WoolyBully Boots @ Lazy Places
(p.s. I am loving this pink thing and have bought more pink hair at Kin! I also wanted to say that Mudshake is a great store for both Furnishings, Plants, and some really cute clothes too. sUmi is a line in Tuli which is very sweet. Lazy places is one of my favorite places for unusual footwear and Thimbles is just a very cool place. These kinds of stores remind me of the days when I used to shop for Vintage Funky clothes in RL!)

Week 22 - Blowing in the Windlight !!!
Recently I was checking around the feeds and not really seeing anything I really liked, I noticed a really interesting series of Dresses by Neferia Abel of Ivalde. These dresses were created for the EFA-AIFW-09 which is a simultaneous Fashion Show combining RL and SL talent which took place on January26th. The SL Fashion Designers were to re-create the real world fashions on display at the RL portion of the event. Neferia used sculpies to give the dresses the baggy look of the originals. These dresses are different to much of the tight-to-the body clothing so prevelent in SL. I tried all kinds of shoes, boots etc. until I realized what I really liked about the dress was the free spirited kinda funkiness so I added some Yak and Yeti Jewellery and went exploring...
Ok, I have been on a Windlight Odyssey...When Windlight was first introduced last year I thought "Great" until I started crashing every time I used it. As time passed, I had to use ever lower graphics settings just to get a normal SL experience. Windlight got put on the backburner and I just ignored all the info which related to it. A while ago, I finally bought a new puter and so I can actually run my computer on ultra high Graphics settings. Last week through a really random comment on Plurk I started investigating Windlight. I downloaded Torley's Windlight Presets and Redgrave's settings which are good for the face. I know other people on SL have also played around with Windlight, so I am sure I will continue checking out new and interesting uses for it. Windlight gives realistic and fantastic effects to Sky, and Water. Redgrave's Presets eliminate the need for facelights. Torley's settings are ideal for photo's relying on mood and atmosphere. Some are best for landscape and others will do for faces etc. Redgraves work for pictures of straight fashion or where you want even lighting. You can also play around with the sliders and make your own. I haven't tried this...yet! Windows Presets can be accessed by clicking on World/Environment Settings/Environment Editor/Advanced Sky-Water Presets. Redgrave has their presets instore while Torley's are available for download into SL. I have also added Anna Lutetia's setting for studio (from her blog) and plan to use and compare them to the others.
