Kate Bosworth Ethnic-Week 36

One of the results of Blogger Appreciation week is the sad fact that my inventory is bursting at the seams! Networking is of course a huge part of blogging and it can be difficult to separate ones own likes and dislikes from the sheer volume of clothing, skin and hair, out there waiting to be blogged.

Lemania Indigo's clothing offers a mix of Gowns, Retro and Nostalgic Outfits. This dress, Kate Bosworth Ethnic gives a little different angle to her style and I love the design, colours and textures. All of these items are included in the outfit which sells for 300L at Castle of Lemania’s. The Skin I am wearing is Tuli’s new (free to group skin)Hope.

My day started out well enough… Never being one to wear a lot of lingerie I thought I’d take a crack at it while showing off some of my new discoveries…Angel Dessous, a store new to me has some very lovely underthings. I chose this ensemble because I love clothes that can be crossed over in different genres and Carry can be worn as lingerie and as fantasy wear. There are lots of options and the Tatts come with it. I am also wearing a newish Curio Skin which works well being young and with lovely body shading.

I had fun walking around a new sim, Wiles(still under construction) but thought I’d try something a little different and that’s where the trouble began.. I think I’ll rue the day I went to Rune..

Goldilocks had heard in her sleep the great, rough, gruff voice of the Great, Huge Bear; but she was so fast asleep that it was no more to her than the roaring of wind or the rumbling of thunder. And she had heard the middle voice of the Middle Bear, but it was only as if she had heard someone speaking in a dream. But when she heard the little, small, wee voice of the Little, Small, Wee Bear, it was so sharp, and so shrill, that it awakened her at once. Up she started; and when she saw the Three Bears on one side of the bed, she tumbled herself out at the other, and ran to the window. Now the window was open, because the Bears, like good, tidy Bears as they were, always opened their bed-chamber window when they got up in the morning. Out Goldilocks jumped; and whether she broke her neck in the fall; or ran into the wood and was lost there; or found her way out of the wood, and was taken up by the constable and sent to the House of Correction for a vagrant as she was, I cannot tell. But the Three Bears never saw anything more of her.

Don't believe anything the Bears tell you....I was framed!!!

I must say that after the week that was, it’s a good thing I have my feet firmly planted on the ground or all this attention and appreciation might just have gone to my head. No worries though, I waded through many of the boxes (thank you, thank you) made it to the party, (I didn’t even make a total fool of myself as I usually do at these things or spend the night hugging the fridge…uh no fridge..) Even the gift of a Private Plane did nothing to inflate my usually tiny ego… (OK maybe just a teeny bit!)

Thank you to all who were a part of this. Most Especially Callie! It was wonderful. Truth is I love to blog because of the fact that we’re making it up as we go…. Well, I think I’ll go hang out in my Private Plane .. now. Which I have no idea how to fly…but how hard can it be?

Week 34 - Edelweiss…Edelweiss…

About a week ago, while shopping for something else, I came across this lovely dress with bloomers in Edelweiss. Edelweiss is a Japanese store with Schoolgirl and Anime type clothing. I was looking for something sweet and fresh and this little number was perfect. I couldn’t find a skin which matched so I demo’d Beauty by Adam&Eve and it was just the right combination of sweetness I was looking for. The sandals are from Slink, flowers and sunglasses, Artilleri and the necklace from Violet Voltaire who is having a closing sale at her main store. (I believe some of her other locations will remain open.) I’ve been wearing this combo for the last few days and love the way everything moves together.

I made my way over to NAH! to check out the location and found a door which when you go through it, teleports you to a pretty lovely rainy Sim. I was having fun taking pictures and returned home to finish off my shots. When I finally took a look at what I had shot I realized that something very odd had happened. Parts of the picture were repeated. Except for fooling with the colour and sharpness I have left these two as is. Apparently this is a SL bug and it is being fixed, but sometimes a mistake can be put to good use…

Week 34 - So, what do you wear shopping?

Now I have to admit, I love to be comfortable when I shop. I walk everywhere and like to check out my surroundings. I can’t help it, I do get grungy, my feet smell and I need water, snacks, and the one thing I cannot live without….A really comfy pair of shoes. I have a tendency to get lost, walk into walls and spill things on myself. Urban Bomb Unit (no its not anything to do with bombs, as far as I can tell..) has just the best shoes ever. They are customizable with different textures and fit like a dream, the only problem right now is that I want them in RL too..The clothes are from Ducknipple which has great super comfortable clothing for browsing around the grid. Shot at Harajukubox City.

Week33 - It’s Curious……

I can’t help walking into Curious Kitties without experiencing a big dose of nostalgia and affection. CK, along with Tete a Pied, Nyte and Day, and Artilleri, were the first stores I fell in love with in SL.(After I had left the noob hangouts and Businessinabox nightmares!) CK manages to mesh together Neko, Anime, Japanese, Fantasy, Streetwear into a truly uniquely designed product. The store itself hasn’t changed a lot since my first days but that’s because it’s beautifully laid out and matches the design sensibility of the clothes. I have found setting my windlight pretty bright helps the darkness and like a lot of big stores it can be a bit laggy, so I lower my graphics also. This week CK has been running a Tiki Present offer (50L to buy a present, limit of 2, I got the brown leather skirt and lovely Tribal skin), a sale (10-50% off selected items) , a present tree (I received jewellery), and a Lucky Kitty Draw. One of the things I have always loved about the store is that prices range from under 100L for a top to over 1000L for a whole ensemble including shoes. This allows you to shop, come back later and match items which you may have bought a while ago. The store offers, clothes, accessories, shoes, skins, and hair. I own a number of the skirts which are lovely but need to be finessed a little for fitting.

Week 33 - Grokking the GIMP

Now I must admit, I have GIMP, not Photoshop. I have tried to read all the tutorials (ok I never find any that applies to GIMP or that applies to what I’m working on) and so when I read Achariya’s PS Tutorial I thought I’d give the GIMP another try. This time putting together something Graphic rather than the on location shots I love shooting. I’d love to tell you just how I came up with the final result….but I have no idea except to say that there was much trial and quite a lot of error…It was fun though and I will continue to muddle along. The only advice I can give you is to save multiple copies in PNG and XCF, Get up to speed on the concept of layers and masking and have fun. This pic has a lot of mistakes….but you should have seen my earlier attempts!

The clothes are a mashup of Curious Kitties and Nomine, both of which were having interesting sales this week. The coat was interfearing with my Gimpishness so I had to remove parts…and both the coat and the skin are a steal at 100L (not sure if the sale is still on..) Curious Kitties, I will deal with later because I’ve never done a post on them and I have lots of their stuffs in my inventory.

Week 32 - Fashionably Dead

This week was going to be quiet…..

I was going to just hang around take it easy and maybe check out some clothing.

That I did but something caught my eye….

Now I’ll admit it, I love different skins. I have given up trying to get a perfect one and just enjoy the variety and neverending creativity of our skinmakers. I own skins that are very realistic, photo sourced and hand drawn. (Don’t ask me to count them..) I love skins for different reasons. They all photograph differently. I have often found that certain clothing makers that I love who have a really quirky kind of fashion sense are really hard to match the skins to and hair is the same. The skins from fashionably dead are charming, almost like something you would see in an illustration or a hand drawn story. They match really well to some of the more quirky fashions and also work well with facial expressions. (Some skins are scary when you smile.)

The skins are available in Tableau sim and I’ll warn you, can be hard to find. (look near the windmill) I also was intrigued to find a lot of lovely handrawn clothing (up the stairs) and I was hard pressed to find just one outfit that I liked (I am already planning to return for more skins and clothes.) As well there is a really cute shoestring hair… Clothing from Onigiri, Fashionably Dead, Ducknipple, Dou Petit, Lazy Places and School Daze. Pics shot at Tableau and Japan Dream Kenjin (a really cool sim based on a 1960’s Japan seaside village). Torridwear AO.
